Nokia quits Developer Forum after Hacker accesses the members records

Nokia to temporarily close your website developer community as a precautionary measure after hackers gained access to a database table that contains the e-mail addresses of the members of the Forum and other information. Hacker exploited vulnerability last week in the bulletin board software, allowing SQL injection attack, which in turn allowed him (or her) distort the Forum Web site.

Nokia now Forum members, warning them of the fact that not only has Web site by electronic mail the developer was defaced, but Hacker got access to the records, which, fortunately for Nokia – does not contain passwords, credit card data or other confidential information.

Nonetheless, Nokia said, about 7 per cent access to records include date of birth, the URL of the Web site and/or user names for services like aim, ICQ, MSN, Skype or Yahoo.

SQL injection attacks usually occur when the user input in the database layer of an application is not filtered for escape characters and is then passed to the SQL statement, or when a user box is not type-safe or not checked for type constraints and thereby unexpectedly executed.

Nokia said that initially believes that access only a small number of records of members of the Forum, however, that further investigation determined that the number of "considerably higher" – Nokia does not disclose exactly how many records have been accessed or other information about the breach of security.

The company also said that he took down his site offline developer community as a precautionary measure while the Nokia team conducts further research and assessment of safety.
