The update also brings portrait QWERTY keyboard and a split screen view while you type, so you can test your Web pages, forms and flows when entering text. Nokia Ovi Suite is recommends that PC to get the download, as is quite large and may not, through the OTA if Wi-Fi connection is super reliable. Oh, and one little bummer, before I go: no update is available in the United States right now, and since Nokia wants to stop its Symbian business in North America, it can never be. Currently, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, u.a.e. and the UK will be the first to receive updates from other countries within three weeks.

Brace yourselves, webOS fans.

In the hours before the Conference call Q3 later today, HP has just confirmed that they would cease operations associated with the touch pad and all the phones webOS.

According to their press release:

HP announced that it plans to announce that it will cease operations for webOS devices, specifically the touchpad and webOS phones. HP will continue to explore options for optimizing the value of the webOS software, go ahead.

This news will come as a huge hit in the gut for fans of webOS (including me, although you can't say that we could not see it coming), many of which were the product of years — the first in the hope that eventually the Palm will be worthy of a pretty fantastic device's operating system, and later in the hope that the HP purchase of Palm could spark a fire, which simply never seemed tolight.

On the upside, webOS, the itself is not dead – at least not just yet. HP wording up above leaves things a bit blurred, with at least two potential routes remains open: licensing webOS to other other, phone/tablet device sticking webOS (HP has already made plans to put it in the printers and cars). Until further notice, however, this is essentially dead in the water.

One for webOS devices this evening, my fellow geeks.

Update: If HP output still saving face, here's a way to do it.

Update: HP Stephen Dewitt says, "we are not going from webOS." they will continue their efforts to advance and may license the OS, but his life as we know that it is definitely over.

The world's largest mobile carrier, China Mobile, currently does not support or sell the iPhone. This may change, though. Reuters reports that the carrier had held a meeting with Steve Jobs himself regarding the launch of the iPhone to China Mobile, the world's largest wireless carrier.

Clearly there is a demand. Apparently China Mobile, despite not selling myself, phone 7.44 million iPhones registered on their network. This is of course this is done by unauthorized, but shows that China Mobile users will go out of their way to get an iPhone on the network.

One obstacle was that China Mobile works on other 3 G standard, developed in part by the Chinese Government. This network of TD-SCDMA incompatible with two variations, Radio 3 G in the iPhone. These submarines China Mobile by using jailbroken iPhone only have access to slower legacy 2 G EDGE network, proving the popularity of the iPhone.

China Unicom is currently the only carrier in China officially support the iPhone, but China Mobile offers immense possibilities for Apple. Both carriers owned and operated, but China Unicom works on traditional wireless standards, only 180 million users on their network. China Mobile, but reaches 97% of the population of China and has more than 600 million subscribers. (ATT and Verizon combined have subtitles only 230 million in the United States)

From fake Apple stores to the millions of 2 G iPhones, the Chinese people clearly want the latest Apple can offer — and Apple will not likely to turn down the cash.

Started by Steve jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, Apple has expanded from computers to consumer electronics over the past 30 years, officially change their name from Apple Computer.

Is-greed-still-good1

19 January 2011. It is a day when I will always remember. This day, I finally got to destroy the Horcrux, lead poverty in my life: AT&T.

This day, I finally canceled my AT&T service after years of missed calls, non-existant Service gross over charges and all around. I even did it before I knew exactly what Verizon getting the iPhone. I have had enough. What should I undo it in Google voice, adding insults, just icing on the cake.  Looking back, it was one of the best solutions, technology-wise, I've done in the past few years. And now he looks even better.

You see, after several months of AT&T time of sight, out of mind, they broke into my brain last night when I read at Engadget that they will eliminate the separate text messaging plans for several days. In AT&T marketing jargon this is called "Optimization". In my jargon this is called "bullshit".

In particular AT&T is cheaper than $ 10 per month option, which provides users with 1000 text messages. All that remains is only $ 20 per month unlimited parameter. Or you can have a predetermined plan and pay $ 0.20 for each SMS and $ 0.30 for each MMS.

Of course, that "Optimization" in that they are now two three options. However, the important reasons for the move.

Here's what's really happening. Naturally AT&T would never allow this, but they are scared shitless fully attacks currently in SMS. You see, these short messages have reached income stream of billions of dollars for carriers, with profits rising to 100 percent for each message. In other words, it has a long history of plagiarism. And carriers milking it dry years.

But now startups as GroupMe, which allows users to bypass the SMS and use the data to send short messages, are gaining popularity. Meanwhile, the massive players like Google and Facebook have introduced their own solutions to bypass SMS. And with the launch of iOS 5 this fall, Apple is going to bake a work-around in every iPhone there as iMessage.

AT&T "Optimization" is purely a defensive maneuver. It is true that neither GroupMe or Facebook Messenger is going to kill SMS per night. No iMessage. But what these services are going to do is slowly but surely people to understand that they should not send nearly as many text messages. I look at my use. In the past six months I sent seven message SMS. 7. all the rest of my short messages are passed through the Beluga, GroupMe, Google app voice or now Facebook Messenger. Each of these messages have been sent or received free of charge (they just use a tiny amount of data you already pay if your 3 G). This is the future.

So now with the services out there to make people less rely on SMS, what happens? People were going to want to drop their plans. Who wants to pay $ 20 a month when you use only a small number of messages? Why not pay the $ 10? Well now you can not. You can either pay $ 20 for unlimited, or have no plan and AT&T funny messages.

AT&T knows that most people are not going to chose the latter. Again we have no point yet where people will be comfortable letting go of SMS. Features all the services I have mentioned using it as a backup in one way or another.

Think of it this way: no SMS is heroin. $ 10 per month limited plan was methadone, which you can use to get rid of. AT&T simply cut off the supply of methadone. They're bold you go cold Turkey. Most will not.

I am sure that this is purely a coincidence that this move is happening right now, just weeks before the start of the iOS iMessage with 5. Of course AT&T "arrange" their SMS plans several months ago, but why not do it again? I am sure he has nothing to do with the fact that Apple unveiled the iMessage without telling carriers. AT&T just felt like the clients you want to change right now.

No, do not miss one bit, AT&T.

Update: not even 2 minutes after I publish my old foil, Seth Bloom wrote in to point out that this change applies only to new customers. In other words, this affects only millions of new users who sign up for AT&T get an iPhone (or any new Android phone, etc.) soon. No biggie.

In other words, part 2: "go ahead, sign up for SMS plan, we dare you."

In the rare cases that I have not sat in a chat room and write on the phones I usually hang out, play the role of "facilitator" among my friends. You probably have too: Messaging people to see who's available, find out who wants to eat that for PVP against potential partiers, works. This is a bit distracting to say the least, but if you are usually stuck with this responsibility and you have a Windows phone and Bing recently, "we're in" application might be just right for you.

The process is very simple: when you use application to create events and invite people to him, the invitation goes out via text message. Once your friends respond (either from a Windows application or mobile website), their locations will be displayed on the map, which is perfectly suited to save bookmarks on that one friend who is always late.

All participants can leave status updates on the fly, so the first man who makes it into a restaurant can let others know that he snagged a table in the back. It's just a duck from the events that you carried out, although the Protocol suggests that you should leave a farewell status update in such a way as not to get a reputation as a cereal.

In a sense, it's almost like we're in is Foursquare the other half: while Foursquare lets you know when someone makes it somewhere, we deal with all the back-end logistics-getting there first. Instead of an individual and back and try to determine who knows that we are putting all of that information in one place. Bing team announced their intention to bring in other devices, but a pity international partiers: the United States just now.

Foursquare is a location based social network that includes gameplay elements. Users share their location with friends check in via the Smartphone app "or text message.

call-911

No one ever wants to be in a situation that requires emergency services, but when you think all "dial 911" it really helps. Kind of. In truth, our emergency response system is pretty outdated when we consider all the different forms of communication, which will be the core. But fortunately, FCC Charmain Julius Genachowski has been tapped by the recently announced that five step plan is in place to bring text, photo, video and data to support next-generation 911.

"It's hard to imagine that airlines can send text messages if your flight is delayed, but you cannot send a text message 911 in an emergency," said Genachowski has been tapped by. "Unfortunately it is true that our emergency response communication has not kept pace with commercial innovation — has not kept pace with now do what ordinary people every day with communication devices."

This is a very sweet News considering there are many situations in which the phone support just doesn't cut it. Let's say you're in a kind of bank robbery hostage situation (knock on wood). You can't just whip out the old Smartphone and yammer in police wearing masks. But the text will definitely help you, and anyone who is young, had a cell phone in the classroom with them knows that the hidden text message isn't terribly difficult.

Another hypothetical: you are convenient to store one night ice cream when perusing through the selection of a mugger pulls out a gun and captures all the money from the register. You know, he's going to run for it, but if you can just snap a pic or grab some videos, the police can actually find it. For several years, photos and videos sent in via next generation 911 service may be one of the best ways to catch criminals.

The service does not roll out for another five to ten years, but at the same time, a set of 911 will do just fine.

HTC HTC's first NFC phone "stunning," began in China

htc-phone

HTC smartphone maker has pledged to start its first NFC phone, the HTC incredible, which will debut in China some time later this year. The phone will be a 4-inch, Android-based devices and support standard bank card network China UnionPay mobile payment.

This allows the phone to perform mobile payments to trade, using NFC contactless technology, or "near field communication."

For those unfamiliar, NFC is a short-range high frequency wireless technology that is currently used as a basis for ongoing and upcoming mobile payments and mobile wallet services, such as from mobile operators (for example, Isis), tech companies (e.g. Google Wallet) and credit card providers (e.g. Visa, MasterCard, etc.).

For work, phones have either equipped with special NFC chip as found in the Samsung Nexus S, or they can be made, the NFC by labels or specialized cases, such as those from DeviceFidelity.

While some Smartphone OEMs like Nokia, for example, have incorporated the NFC in their handsets, others just now jumping on the trend, thanks largely to NFC initiatives mentioned above, as well as support from almost all the major players, from banks to the carriers for developers of mobile operating systems like Google Android and RIM BlackBerry.

Although it is rumored that HTC will soon submit based on NFC phone, this news now (supposedly) confirms this. The news was first published in Taiwan, focus, and China Daily, citing statements made tea Hongfeng, Executive Vice President of China UnionPay at a press conference.

«More mobile phone users should not lead their bank cards in the future, because their smartphones can provide the same function, "says Hongfeng.

China Daily also reported that mobile payment has been in development for more than a year. There is no exact launch date for the phone, but he is expected to arrive in September.

Kim Hyon Suk has been busy these past few months. Lawyer, based out of Seoul, it got a bit of notoriety for being the first person to receive cash from Apple for iPhone location tracking trends. He also announced that he and his law firm, Mirae law will be studying the possibility of filing a lawsuit against Apple. According to a report from Bloomberg, with 27 000 Korean claimants on Board that the suit was filed today.

Credit where credit is due, Kim Hyon Suk, definitely has a sense of humor. Web site created his company in July for a helping hand to potential plaintiffs greets visitors with ironic spin on Apple's language: "finally. Real action against Apple. Now available here. "

Mr. Hyon Suk initial payment was 1 million won (approximately $ 930), and the company is looking for the same award for each of the 27 000 affected clients. This news comes hot on the heels of News that Apple was to be fined 3 million ($ 2.808) won the Korea Communications Commission for the collection of data on the location, even when users are disconnected all the relevant characteristics. If this keeps up, Apple may soon look at payment of some serious money as compensation.

Apple solved this costume, rough total compensation is the Korean equivalent of more than 25 million dollars. Considering that Kim Hyun-Suk successfully got its piece of the pie, Apple may be looking at some serious legal manoeuvres to try and get the suit dismissed. In fairness, with more than $ 76 billion in their domestic Treasury settlement costs will be the proverbial drop in the bucket. Nevertheless, expect to see, Apple put up a concerted defense against the claim in the coming weeks.

BlackBerry bold 9900 just hit shelves the T-Mobile, but wait just a second before you bolt to run and grab one. Phone from RIM launches for business customers only, until 31 August, after which the rest of us can get our BBM. Of course the BlackBerry are built with the enterprise in mind, so it kind of makes sense that suits will get first dibs. Then again, RIM doesn't have a thriving at the moment, so it's not clear why the phone will not be available for all straight from the get go.

Press release made no mention of pricing, but thanks to document TmoNews leak is detected, we believe that the bold will go for $ 300 for a contract after $ 50 mail-in rebate. Despite the fact that this is the first 4 G BlackBerry device on T-Mobile, we're still not sure that it is appropriate to its price. We have seen a number of phones with better specs run at a lower price, including T-Mobile 8-megapixel camera, myTouch packin' dual-core processor toutin' 4 G slide (which retails for $ 199 with contract).

But BlackBerry loyalists will get everything they here, along with several improvements. Bold 9900 will run at 1.2 GHz single-core processor with the latest version of the platform for RIM BlackBerry OS 7. It will sport a capacitive touch screen 2.8-inch VGA resolution of 640 × 480 pixels, along with 5-megapixel rear camera capable of 720 p video capture. Bold 9900 support GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and Pack 8 GB of internal memory.

Visa USA | More People Go with Visa

It’s no secret that credit card companies are shelling out big bucks and aggressively forming partnerships and deals to start cashing in on the mobile and digital payments innovations currently taking place. American Express, which recently debuted its own digital payments product Serve, has been particularly aggressive on the partnerships front, striking recent deals with both Foursquare and Facebook. Mastercard has bet on NFC with a partnership with Google for Google Wallet and bought online payments gateway DataCash for $520 million last fall. And Visa has made a number of major moves in the mobile and digital payments space of late; including making an investment (and taking on an advisory role) in disruptive startup Square, buying virtual goods payments platform PlaySpan for $190 million, and acquiring mobile payments company Fundamo for $110 million. We sat down with Visa’s Global Head of Mobile Product Bill Gadja and the company’s Head of Global Product Strategy, Innovation and eCommerce Jennifer Schulz to discuss how the financial company is planning to compete in both mobile and digital payments.

MOBILE

Gadja explains that there are three prongs to Visa’s mobile payments strategy. One of these is NFC, and focuses on payments using a mobile phone at a physical store. For background, NFC (near field communications) enables people to make transactions, exchange digital content and connect electronic devices with a simple touch. As we’ve seen with Google Wallet, Android phones such as the Nexus S are being built with NFC chips, making your cell phone a mobile wallet. Visa recently joined the ISIS network, a NFC mobile payment network that is a joint venture formed by AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. ISIS will soon launch in a number of markets, including Utah and Texas.

Gadja explains that Visa is licensing mobile payments applications PayWave for integration with the ISIS wallet and the company is actively looking for other ways to integrate with NFC into the company’s mobile payments structure.

Of course, some aren’t so bullish on NFC, notably eBay (who owns PayPal) CEO John Donohoe, who in a recent earnings call said merchants refer NFC “not for commerce.” And odd statement considering PayPal just dipped its toes in the NFC pool with support for Android.

Gadja tells is, “I think for some people NFC will replace the actual physical credit card but it will be a long time before NFC replaces all payments.” He believes that we are going to start seeing more traction by end of this year but says the capability of “taking credit cards and putting them on mobile phones will represent the long tail” in payments. But he adds, “the pieces are in place for NFC to take off.”

The second part of the Visa’s mobile strategy involves the digital wallet and the mobile web. Gadja says that as e-commerce ramps up on mobile phones, there is a need for one-click, simple username and password checkout experience in a transaction being made on a mobile device. That’s an area where PayPal has been working hard to dominate in but Visa sees room for other players. Should we expect a PayPal-like, one-click mobile payments technology coming from Visa soon? Perhaps, the company hasn’t been afraid to enter PayPal’s territory in the past, launching a peer to peer payments service earlier this year.

In May, Visa announced its plans for the digital wallet. We’ll explain this initiative later in the post, but part of this platform would allow you to access your loyalty points, credit cards and more from your mobile phone at the point of sale. And the third pillar of Visa’s mobile strategy is incorporating value-added services like real-time alerts, contextual services, and offers at point of shopping based on where you are.

Visa actually tested a partnership with retailer The Gap earlier this year which alerted customers via SMS of discounts in stores near them. Gadja tells us Visa is working with a number of other retailers and banks on similar deals which will be announced soon.

Gadja says there are a number of other factors at play in the mobile payments place that need to be highlighted when talking about mobile payments. International is a huge growth area in mobile payments. He tells is that outside the U.S., there are a large number of people who have mobile phones but don’t have banking relationship or credit card. In fact, he says there are 2 billion people in world that have phone, but don’t have a bank account or credit card.

In these markets, Visa’s goal is to bring prepaid accounts, purchasing power and other financial services to basic phones. These could include topping up a mobile phone with airtime, buying transit tickets, peer to peer payments. And this goal was the mean reason behind the purchase of behind the $110 million purchase of Fundamo. The company’s platform delivers mobile financial services to unbanked and under-banked consumers around the world, including person-to-person payments, airtime top-up, bill payment and branchless banking services.

Connecting with the small business world that don’t yet use credit cards or are new to the system is another area where Visa feels there is strong potential, especially with mobile payments. That’s why the company invested in disruptive mobile payments company Square and took an advisory role in the company. Gadja says that the power of Square is that it is enabling small businesses and independent workers such as doctors, designer and other merchants to start using credit cards and grow their businesses. It would make sense for Square and Visa would somehow work to harness the power of their partnership (As of April roughly two-thirds of transactions using Square’s payments service were through Visa credit cards.), but it’s unclear what the two companies will reveal any new co-produced products soon.

Gadja tells us that the biggest challenge of mobile payments in the current market the massive amount of fragmentation in the mobile industry. He explains that with all of the various mobile operating systems, specific manufactured phones, applications and more, keeping up with pace of innovation on the development side is a major challenge for Visa.

But he says that there is still so much room for innovation around how we pay with mobile phones. “With the rise of smartphone usage, we are already seeing a lot of innovation around commerce,” he explains. “It’s inevitable that this will extend to the payments around the sales in mobile commerce.”

DIGITAL

Visa’s digital payments guru Schulz outlined her strategy for digital payments at the company, which centralizes around the creation of the digital wallet. Schulz says that because of the fat that e-commerce is being more easy and convenient with customers, especially with m-commerce, the underlying payments infrastructure has to evolve.

And Visa’s answer to this is a new digital wallet initiative. Here’s how it works. Users will have an account, and they can add their credit card numbers (and cards from other credit card companies such as American Express and Mastercard). Visa is partnering with a number of financial institutions to offer this product to their customers.

Users can also load their loyalty points and rewards cards, as well as organize their shopping lists. Schulz describes it as a “wallet in the cloud.” But she says the key to the success of the wallet is a seamless, one-click payments experience for the consumers. So Visa has partnered with a number of large-scale retailers (which will be announced soon) to integrate what Schulz refers to as a ‘new acceptance mark’ on a merchant payments page.

So there will be a button you can click on, which will prompt you to sign-on and then will sync your digital wallet with the purchase in your shopping cart. So for example, imagine you had a camera in your cart, and Visa offered a 20 percent off at camera’s purchased at BestBuy, the wallet would sync and show the discount in your cart. The same works for loyalty points and more.

Schulz explains that the idea behind the wallet is that consumers want control over their wallet and want to have payment information and access available to them at all times. She believes that the digital wallet will click to buy incorporated on retailers’ sites is essential to the future of e-commerce in both the U.S. and emerging markets.

She compares the digital wallet offering to “two-hand clapping.” ” You can have a digital wallet,” Schulz explains, “but you need a merchant solution of click to buy, and Visa’s going to transform that experience.” And Schulz highlights another recent acquisition, Playspan, has helping drive a simplified commerce experience, a.k.a. click to buy, within game or within app.

Of course adding another checkout experience to online retailers’ sites can be a complicated and time-consuming process. But that’s where Visa’s $2 billion acquisition of CyberSource comes in. CyberSource is said to process about 25 percent of all e-commerce dollars transacted in the United States, and operates e-commerce for hundreds of thousands of retailers. Schulz says this relationship has helped speed up the pace of implementation.

Creating the digital wallet, both on the mobile and web platforms, is no easy task. Visa has a name for itself in the credit card industry but the fact is that the brand still has to attach innovation to itself in order for people to take these products seriously. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why Google’s Mobile Wallet news created waves, even though NFC technology is in its early stages.

Visa competitor American Express is also working hard to innovate both at the large retailer level, as well as among smaller retailers, with GoSocial.

While Visa, American Express and others are looking to capitalize on the changes taking place in the payments industry, it is a challenging effort. Local commerce is a big part of this, and everyone is trying to find a way to close the redemption loop. But e-commerce, amongst larger retailers, is also a multi-billion dollar market that Visa hopes to continue to play in with products like a digital wallet. And in-store payments, whether that be through NFC, Square or others, represent another market.

I’ve been talking to a number of executives of payments companies and founders of innovative payments startups, and while their objectives are different, they all seem to agree on one thing. It’s early and there is still much more innovation were going to see in the next few years in the online and mobile payments space.

Google's team has been busy slide. In the past few months, they have a wide range of social applications that are meant to meet different needs. But it is strange that Google didn't do a thing to any of them. This was deliberate. Google gives a group of slides, which operates on its own in Google, room to maneuver and fly under the radar. But with Photovine, they actually touch a little bit. And in vain – the app is pretty slick.

If you've heard of Photovine before, this is either because you are reading that Google has registered a domain, or that they pushed the app in the App Store. So far, however, the application in the closed beta test with a very limited number of users. Not anymore. At the moment the application is open to all registered.

What is Photovine? Photo sharing application for iOS, which puts the emphasis on "grapes". That is, the Photo Center points or ideas that connect you with other users. Yes, it sounds a bit pretentious. And the best way to understand this is to watch the video below. But think of it this way: you take your favorite Cologne. This encourages another user to take a picture of their favorite flavors. And that the invitations for another user to do the same. And so it is more or less based on the topic of photography.

This is an interesting concept, because it encourages users to action. Open the image with your application, you can use a picture from nothing, and for some users, that is complex. What do you take a picture when you take pictures of anything? With Photovine more experience. Or, if you want to photograph anything, you can simply start your own grapes.

According to Google this is a story with photos. Can be a picture tells the story of your "perfect weekend". Who sees that the snapshot and tell their story of the same idea. Essentially the idea is derived from looking up at the stars at night and wonder who is doing the same thing? Point being, there are thousands if not millions, of people around the world, doing what you are doing at the same time. To connect these people Photovine.

If you've heard about the app Piictu, it looks like. But unlike many Google products, Photovine is very well designed. In fact, it is one of the more slick-looking iOS photo applications out there right now — again, just to be clear, technically Google did.

Naturally all of this ensures that this app will find success. But it's a compelling idea with a good user interface. It reminds me a bit Treeshouse, former project with the support of Y Combinator — which should not be surprising at all considering that the founder of the launch of Chrys Bader, now works for Google/slide on this project.

And Yes, Photovine includes the ability to share images of Facebook or Twitter. However, the actual social graph of their own.

You can find Photovine in the App Store here.

We reported a few weeks ago that Apple potentially looking at TSMC (otherwise known as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) to begin work on their next-generation processor A6. Apple seems to have made up their mind during the interim period that the partnership was reaffirmed on Friday the Chinese Economic News Service.

TSMC, the world's largest manufacturer of semiconductor, reportedly has already started trial launch new chip. A6's design is not finished yet, but the company aims to have a final product perfect Q1 2012, in time for its grand public unveiling several months after that.

From the A6, it is expected that the new generation iPads and iPhones, Apple in TSMC dates of production means that any iPad 3s sitting under whose Christmas tree this year. This also means that the long-awaited chip specification is not set in stone for quite a while. It is expected that, in order to maintain its dual-core architecture-A6, however, the report leaves enough space for fans of hot semiconductor speculate like crazy.

Already there are rumors that, for example, A6 will Apple first quad-core. Quad-core chips have already been declared Qualcomm and NVIDIA, and bearing in mind that these companies have a close working relationship with TSMC, it is possible that some experience in the production of quad-core may find their way in A6.

Ladies and gentlemen are Droid HD previously unseen phone was known for floating around, thanks to the EXIF data that the rapid appearance on Flickr, but the Droid HD ready for a little attention.

Droid Bionic enjoys its share of attention for months, even as the date of his release keeps getting pushed further and further back. Now that we have a good idea of when we can get one, Bionic begins to pop up in photoshoots on the left and right. Engadget got their hands on that by far the most detailed images of Bionic taken to date, but the Droid HD was there to steal the show.

First impressions: it is approaching to Infuse 4 G-the thin, even with a huge battery and 8 megapixel camera, mounted on the back. The device seems to be running gingerbread cookies (not surprisingly), and this naturally packages microUSB and micro HDMI port. MicroSD card slot and SIM cards are tucked away on the opposite side of the device slim frame.

The name of the device and SIM card immediately to offer devices global in nature, but I hope it turns out to be one of the Verizon SIM-toting 4 G LTE devices. If so, it would not surprise if Motorola and Verizon had to play with a bit of branding. The name "droid HD" seems a bit droll on something with a bit of oomph as Bionic, but looking at the form factor and its emphasis on size, Droid HD, may well be the Droid successsor X 2.

Any word on release date would be pure speculation at this point, but the Panel looks amazing full for what has not been officially announced. This may be the next big GSM phone Motorola or Verizon can work on their strategy of Blitz holiday, but more News surfaces, Droid fanatics will just accept more eye candy.

We've seen a lot of interesting patents from Apple in the last few days, but Microsoft loves patent stuff too — and they were given only a bunch of nice little designs for mobile phones in a special format and some Kinect slider and mouse tech for download.

They are patenting a simple slider, of course. They are patenting several specific designs of the sliding mechanism, which, after you finish sliding action, keyboard and screen are mostly similar to the plane. "i.e., mainly the flush. Check this:

Potentially, the advantage is more comfortable typing experience. Many complained to recruit around G1's "Chin", and other phones with sunken keyboards have similar problems. My problem with the design as it is that additional loops and such may increase weight and sturdiness. The second design looks more interesting, however, reduce the display, rather than increasing the keyboard. That actually could work.

I'd like to see is some patents on the slider keyboard with keys that are actually fun to type on. Or maybe a slide-out keyboard for tablets that do not increase the weight of the thing at 500%.

Microsoft also received a patent that explicitly refers to Kinect is the definition of the potential of space to gestures and track user's movement within a cone. I wouldn't say this is particularly interesting, but if you are interested in Kinect and Microsoft for its implementation, it could make for some fun reading this weekend.

More up my alley, Microsoft has patented a method of interaction with games through multi-touch mice. I'm very surprised this patent came because the games just a form of software, and must be hundreds of patents in the game on the interaction of the software and multi-touch surface. Mostly I liked looking at patent because they use illustrations that times back in the days of yore when multi-touch mice were a novel proposal.

Shane Macaulay and Riley Hassell were all set to go on stage at Black Hat and describe several methods of hacking Android devices. But they never appeared: in the last minute they decided not to disclose the vulnerabilities they discovered. Why? "To avoid an unacceptable risk to consumers window throughout the world and to guarantee the loans, where he was."

As a very white hat! Yes indeed, Hassel and Macaulay were worried that going public with these vulnerabilities can lead to scientific discussion and plugging security hole, but holiday Haq as millions of mobile phones succumbed to an unpatched exploits. They also learned just before going onstage, opening them can replicate some of the earlier findings, and they wanted to make sure they have proper confirmation. So they no-showed.

What is vulnerability? They are not telling just yet. And according to Google, "identified no errors appear in Android." is very Illuminating! About this, we'll see, I am sure.

In the news these days, that I felt just right to draw attention to a couple of guys to do things right so much a relic of hackers and hacks. That happiness will fix this security hole (which does not exist), and we will all be a little more next week.

Apple, it's time for a block of iOS 5 Beta users from the revision of the annexes

ios 5 reviews 2

Yes, each new ad iOS – very ... bittersweet. We love it, because it means new APIs for us to develop fixes for the things we were around, and, ideally, more people buy the platform we are building for. But then we months get spend slammed bad reviews, all written by people who just don't understand: before the release goes gold, beta specific errors are is not our fault. "— the developer, who asked not to be named.

Last night, our sister site TUAW (this is still a kind of strange to write that) posted by PSA. The message was simple: If you're not a developer, but you ignored warning signs and ' its way into provisional iOS 5 Beta, you need to stop. Why? Because people crushing developers with horribly unfair feedback, sinking their oh so important rankings of errors they couldn't possibly have prepared for.

The overall message was fair enough, but their proposed solution is to tell developers not Disabling download iOS 5 — can never work. But there is a solution (quite simple, actually), which would be: just don't let the people running things review of beta versions of iOS.

You see, not to tell people to download IOS 5 Beta, as the world's most delicious cookies in a jar labeled "AWESOME people only, and then tell your child they can have one if they promise that they indeed are an awesome person. Everyone wanted to put on their awesome shirts and their awesome hat, walking to the Bank handles with the hand extended. And why not? Nobody really checks just how awesome the self-proclaimed awesome people — plus, the definition of "awesome" (read: the definition of "Developer") it is somewhat loose.

It's just the way it works: we as a population, rather self-entitled. When something new becomes available for a small group and other outside this group are aware of it, they will try to find a way to get it (in this case, it usually means buying a developer from someone selling their extra space for profit that.) Apple could theoretically kill this gray market fully open access a beta version of iOS for those who are willing to jump through some hoops and cancel some rights — but this is a post for another day.

It seems there are at least two ways to fix this, one is a bit easier than others:

1) Block people running iOS 5 from consideration any applications they've downloaded on iOS 5 (difficult route): Apple knows what applications you have downloaded — if they didn't, they could not show you the history of all purchases (like they do in later builds of the App Store). Why not discover what users version working, when booting, the store is a bit of information in the database, and then block them to consider the application to the new OS has officially launched for all?

They account for applications that were installed with sync has backups — but while it is not trivial, it seems that this is possible. Apple already detects installed applications for other reasons (for example, replace the "Download" button is grayed out and read "installed")

2) Simply block any iOS 5 from the revision of the annex (easier): just as above, but after the discovery of an iTunes account be running iOS Beta 5 this account temporarily blocked all together, review the application whether the applications were loaded to iOS 5 or not.

This route is a bit clunkier, but it's also a bit simpler to implement and easier on the servers of apples, as it does not require additional call a database for each user for each application. It is also slightly less complicated in terms of privacy, because there are fewer message back to the mothership.

Sound harsh? This is possible. But it comes with the territory: the pre beta not intended for daily use (even for developers, Apple recommends that only the beta version on devices dedicated to testing.) If you are not a developer and would like to tinker, hell, I wouldn't try to stop you: you just have to hold your rants, until it would be wise to do otherwise.

Probably there will be some libel open outcry that Apple somehow blocking freedom of expression — which, of course, is not really here. These reviewers beta hungry jumping on their soap box without any understanding of why things don't work and maliciously affect survival of developers — many of which, like most of us are just some dudes looking to ditch the cubicle and do something cool for life.

HP Pre3 started in Europe today, and oddly, HP had very little to say about it. With the touch panel prices drop like a rock, you would expect that the estimated additional devices and HP flagship phone – start with much fanfare. But instead, HP let devices land in his EuroStore and gave a short reply to PreCentral, the first publication of the notice of its availability. In any case, the most important thing is the free carrier Smartphone ready to roll.

For the United States $ 490 Pre3 can be all yours without a contract, which is a beautiful thing. Specs on this beast include single-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm processor, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and led Flash that can capture video in 720 p and forward facing VGA camera for video chat. It comes with 8 GB or 16 GB storage and sporting a capacitive touchscreen 3.58-inch 480 × 800 along with slide out QWERTY keyboard.

Speaking of keyboards, HP said that it is the largest QWERTY keyboard on any phone Palm to date, so if your business it may be what you are looking for. Palm EuroStore list does not clarify whether GSM Pre3 will run webOS, 2.2 or 2.3, but if you would rather stick to make sure you get the latest and greatest, FCC filing for device promises to webOS 2.3 after the launch of the United States.

Image (3) incredible-s.jpg for post 43743

Earlier this week, the creator of the Smartphone HTC revealed its first NFC devices allegedly called the HTC incredible. The phone is manufactured in China and will include support for mobile payments through a partnership with China UnionPay, China's banking network.

We do not know, however, was a stunning phone. Now we are doing: it's just incredibly S HTC with NFC chip. Furthermore it is not called the HTC incredible. This was a mistranslation from Chinese "unbelievable."

The strategic partnership between HTC and UnionPay will include technical R&D, promoting mobile payment services and opportunities for future growth, HTC tells us.

Users who buy this device will be able to pay their Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom bills and their utility bills, check your credit, loyalty points and reserve accommodation, purchase cinema tickets and tickets to other events.  Partner banks UnionPay will also offer mobile banking and payment services for telephone users, they can register online.

In addition, thanks to chip NFC phone (near field communication), the Chinese version of the incredible s will enable mobile payments at the point of sale.

According to Fred Liu, CEO of HTC'S research, development and operations, HTC believes that mobile payments will become one of the "core functions" Smartphone offers. He believes that using the strategic partnership with China UnionPay, you can install the system over mobile payments and popularity of smartphones, mobile payments can be strengthened.

The Government of the United States is not a stranger to the app game: they have already developed more than 50 Smartphone applications and mobile sites for daily use, ranging from applications to find local alternatives to petrol stations with those that may be a sign of leaves you photographed. The app runs the gamut of federal arsenal exactly, but it doesn't seem enough. USA.gov blog has announced that, before 15 September, ordinary citizens like you and I can submit ideas for the next application is big government.

This gesture of openness is now accepting materials on Google Moderator, and several people have already thrown their hats into the ring. My favorite so far? LarryM of Baltimore is a good one:

"Collect and publish the latitude and longitude coordinates of the current Government, which are open to the public (e.g., social security district offices) so that the mapping programs such as Google maps, Bing can display exactly".

Personally, I would like to see an application that uses the device's location services to determine which States and the district is in and display recent activity from the Congressman. Nothing like some local accountability in the Palm of your hand, right?

Since Google Moderator is used to manage all these materials, users can essentially upvote good suggestions, so inevitably vague or trollish views won't make it too far. There is already a question sentence or two (including one that no proposal at all) in the mix, which understandably not garned much love.

USA.gov blog does not say that the most popular proposals will certainly do so at the drafting stage, but if "win" choice is technically feasible and quite novel, it must stand a decent chance of becoming a reality. If you're chomping at the bit has a chance to have a Government to translate your app idea to life, then mosey on over to the site and release — I'd love to see that thoughtful audience like ours can come up with.

Late in the evening, HTC announced that they have a "major Announcement news» share this morning.

With HTC, making some of the best smartphones we've ever seen (like lightning, 7 Pro and original Android device, the G1) anything they consider "basic information", probably worth tuning.

In such a way that they could declare? Thanks to some leak late at night, we have a very good idea is to find the details, along with our live notes HTC teleconference, below.

Refresh the page to update the notes.

It is likely that HTC will announce that they have acquired a majority stake in the line of the beats with an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars.

8: 31 am: still on hold. This is probably the smoothest of smooth jazz, I've ever heard.

8: 35 am: 5 minutes later, we're jammin' on some sultry Jazz tunes. Pretty sure HTC forgot about us here.

8: 37 am: to be clear, it is expected that the challenge of today's newspapers have not been cancelled due to the bits of news breaking last night. HTC has confirmed all last night that the call will continue, with additional information are discussed.

8: 38 am: here we go! They brought us into the call. Peter Chou (Director HTC) and Jimmy Iovine beats generates the call.

This is a great opportunity to take the mobile experience to the next step. Mobile phones, smart phones is very powerful. This makes it easier than ever to enjoy everywhere … but the sound quality is not proved yet. This is an opportunity for us to provide high quality sound "

8: 42 am: Yes — so far, no new details. Just a lot of talk about how awesome is partnership.

8: 43 am: currently calling Jimmy Iovine

8: 44 am: "When you write, millions of dollars spent on getting this emotion in music. When you then take it and put it on CD and MP3, you lose this emotion. [Of those MP3 files and bad earbuds] we lost about 2 generation sound. "

8: 45 am: according to Jimmy Iovine beats HTC went to ask them to invest.

8: 46 am: Iovine: "why Apple works so well is because they have a head. That Steve jobs is doing, the company follows. I found that here with Peter. "

8: 47 am: we are on the Q&A.

8: 48 am: "What will this do to my phone? Consumers really looking for sound quality?
