Mike Tassey and rich Perkins were demonstrating their impressive GSM and WiFi hacking blah, and it seems that other mobile networks were silent siege. Word on the mailing list full disclosure that CDMA and locally 4 G network has been compromised, allowing entirely on man in middle attacks take place.

According to the report, the participant's DefCon Coderman, who saw the attack reportedly unfold, who it really brought their A-games: they attacked through CDMA and 4 G connection at full power, promising to get the root or ring 0 access to Android devices and connected PC.

The system started with looking for open doors as validation for SU or superuser access to affected devices. After working through all the obvious options, he began to try some more "attacks novel." after the device has been compromised, attackers could gain access to user data and even monitor conversations, although Coderman did not mention whether it's phone calls.

It was to be hoped that such complex attack leaves some signs of intrusion, and telltale Coderman very quickly mention some possible indicators. Some of them seem quite pedestrian — if you accept the update notice at DefCon, of all places, you've probably had it coming, but some masquerade as daily network or device wonkiness. Personally, I don't think a big part of my Android phone, being unable to connect to USB debugging, but then again there is a reason I don't go to the DefCon.

Without further confirmation from the participants, it's hard to say how the real threat is posed by the attack. Hack this scale seems almost unreal, but it will not be a surprise to see the DefCon. He was a very local in nature, so affected users do not have much to worry about after they checked from Rio, but it could spell real trouble for carriers. Although the report mentioned no names, Verizon, MetroPCS and Sprint are the only CDMA carriers with honest to goodness 4 G services. 4 G network technologies like WiMax and LTE in particular, be widely distributed network operators would need to strive for their safety in the coming months.
