It looks like AT&T has decided to take the kid gloves off when it comes to their unauthorized users of hotspot. Many of the users who get the most mileage from the jailbreak only apps like MyWi still rocking AT&T grandfathered unlimited data plan, but it will not go forward.
Instead of simply sending a text message notification lyre-insult users, they decided to just blow those customers unlimited plan and appropriate tiered plan.
We are waiting for official word from AT&T, but according to 9to5Mac, all those who received a notification by email or text, alluding to use of data will be forcibly removed unkosher from unlimited plan if the cable after some time. AT&T tethering plan, if you're not familiar, runs $ 45/month and 4 GB. Not too shabby, but certainly far from promise you all you can eat data that some users want to use.
Update # 1: I originally reported that 11 August will be cut off Date, but is unlikely to happen for all affected customers.
Update # 2: AT&T just used their official position on the situation: they were to reach the affected customers for quite some time, so if you had previously, you should probably already know, like your period. In addition AT&T offers three options for those who will make their decision:
1) Stop tethering and keep their current plan (including grandfathered unlimited plan)
2) actively call AT&T or visit our shops and move to appropriate tethering plan
3) do nothing, and we'll go ahead and add tethering plan on their behalf
